Why Study Hadith?
Alhamdulillah, I am beginning to discuss a few elements in Sahih Bukhari, starting from essential knowledge about Hadith and the author of "صحيح البخاري: Muhammad Ibn Ismail Al Bukhari.
When studying hadith, the first and fundamental question popping up in the mind is: " Why do we need to study Hadith? '' The answer lies in the ( Chapter no. 33, verse no.21 ) of the Quran:
لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِیْ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ اُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَنْ كَانَ یَرْجُوا اللّٰهَ وَ الْیَوْمَ الْاٰخِرَ وَ ذَكَرَ اللّٰهَ كَثِیْرًاؕ
Translation: There has certainly been an excellent pattern for you in the way of living of Messenger of Allah for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [ Who] remembers Allah often.
Take a pause here. Ponder upon the words: '' In the Messenger of Allah....''. What is meant by this phrase? Indeed, it focuses on the life of Prophet Muhammad ( P.B.U.H), revealing that the Messenger of Allah in himself is a great pattern to follow. Sayings, actions, life situations, speeches and everything in the life of the Messenger of Allah falls within the ambit of the word ''pattern''. And this provides us with the answer to the question mentioned earlier.
''Why do we need to study Hadith?''
Because it makes the Messenger of Allah the subject.
Now, things appear more sensible. To heighten life at excellence, we need to follow Prophet Muhammad ( P.B.U.H) and to follow him, knowledge of Hadith ranks first. Also, our love for Allah stays incomplete without loving Prophet Muhammad ( P.B.U.H) and following him. We cannot follow him the right way unless we gain knowledge about him. But what does the phrase '' love for Prophet '' imply here? It turns out that it is the affection a true believer must have for the Prophet's way of life. Wistfully, in this day and time, the meaning of love with the Prophet has been falsified and instead carved out into raising slogans, staging sit-ins and claiming themselves as '' true lovers." A significant impact surfaces.
In addition, another question raised by the inquiring mind is:
Sahih Al-Bukhari is the authentic and genuine source of Hadith and the most trusted book among scholars.
Let's incorporate the pattern of the Prophet into our lives!
